This month, each week I will be sharing resources for providers and group practice owners. This upcoming training will discuss ethical practice for behavioral health providers. Ethical Practice for Behavioral Health Providers with Florence Huffman and Geoff Wilson - 6 Hour CourseWednesday July 23 | 9:00 am - 4:30 pm This is a live, in-person training event!! Northeast Christian Church, Room 131 990 Star Shoot Pkwy Lexington, KY Cost: $125 6 CEUS Approved for KY Social Workers. 6 CEUS for KY Alcohol and Drug Counselors, Peer Supports, Professional Counselors and Psychologists pending approval! Training Agenda: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm Florence Huffman - "Navigating Ethical and Legal Duties in Social Work Practice in Kentucky" Training Focus: Identify and apply key ethical and legal duties related to informed consent and avoidance of negligent claims. Apply professional standards and statutory requirements for duty to warn, mandatory reporting of abuse and risk management in clinical practice. Understand the disciplinary process, complaint investigations, and potential outcomes of board actions. Florence Huffman is an Attorney and Counselor at Law. She is the owner of Southern Edge Resources, LLC, providing training workshops and seminars for qualified mental health professionals. She is owner of the Huffman Law Office where she focuses on licensure issues, probate and small estate planning, child welfare law and foster care adoptions. Florence also served as the Executive Director of the Kentucky Board of Social Work for six years 12:00 pm - 1:15 pm Lunch on Your Own 1:15 - 4:30 pm Geoff Wilson - "Boundaries, Board Complaints, and Best Practices" Training Focus: Identify elements of ethical practice as it relates to the code of ethics for a variety of licensure categories in Kentucky. Review the importance of boundaries in clinical practice, navigating dual relationships and identifying areas that typically lead to licensure board complaints. Discuss the importance of self-care for providers and best practices/risk management approaches in clinical care. Geoff Wilson in an LCSW, LCADC, and CCS. He has been practicing in the mental health and substance use disorder treatment fields for 30 years. He currently is in private practice at Lexington Counseling & Psychiatry, where he treats adults and adolescents struggling with mental health, substance use and co-occurring disorders. Geoff served on the Kentucky Board of Alcohol and Drug Counselors for 10 years and is currently serving as the President of the Kentucky Association of Addiction Professionals, the state affiliate to NAADAC. This course is approved for a total of 6 hours. No partial credit will be provided. To receive continuing education hours you must complete the entire course. |
