Duration of Session for Psychotherapy CPT Codes

I've had a lot of questions lately about the duration of sessions for psychotherapy CPT codes. The image below shows guidelines for the duration of the session for the following CPT codes:

The duration of time for the above codes are noted in the CPT code description

90832, 90833= 16-37 minutes

90834, 90836= 38-52 minutes

90837, 90838= 53 min or more

Remember that 90791 and 90792 are billed as an event, and therefore the time spent in session with the client is documented in the note.
