Availity: A Quick Overview

If you don’t have it, you need it! Let me walk you through a short video tutorial on the most common ways in which I utilize Availity on a daily and weekly basis.


Availity Provider Portal, a secure, web-based platform that connects healthcare providers with multiple insurance payers.





🏥 What is Availity?

  • A multi‑payer portal and clearinghouse enabling providers to interact with many payers—commercial, Medicaid, Medicare—from a single website.

  • Handles core administrative and financial workflows: eligibility checks, claim submissions and status inquiries, prior authorizations, remittances, appeals, and digital correspondence.

Core Functions

  1. Eligibility & Benefits- Instantly verify patient insurance coverage and benefit details across all connected payers.

  2. Claims Management Submit claims (individually or batch), track their status, view and manage denials, appeals, and electronic remittance advices (ERAs).

  3. Prior Authorizations- Request and track pre-authorizations with attachments, see requirements per payer, and manage them via a dashboard—powered by responsible AI in some flows.

  4. Secure Messaging & Correspondence- Shared platform for providers and payers to exchange messages or documentation electronically, reducing faxes and phone calls.
